Total Dynamic Head (TDH)
Definition
The total equivalent height a pump must overcome, including static head (elevation), friction head (pipe losses), pressure head (tank pressure), and velocity head. Determines pump operating point.
Practical Note
TDH = static lift + discharge pressure head + friction losses. Always include safety margin (10-20%) when selecting pumps. TDH varies with flow rate due to friction term.
