Tank Capacity
Definition
The total volume a tank can hold when completely filled, typically measured in gallons, liters, or cubic feet. Capacity depends on tank geometry (cylindrical, rectangular, spherical) and internal dimensions.
Practical Note
Working capacity is typically 80-90% of total capacity to allow for thermal expansion and prevent overflow. Always verify tank capacity before filling with expensive or hazardous liquids.
